Bathroom mirror measurements to check before you buy

A mirror can be the right width on paper and still fail when doors, lights and wall fixings enter the picture.

Measure the usable wall

Measure between the actual obstacles: side walls, trim, cabinets and light switches. Record width at the top and bottom if the wall is not square.

Check the furniture below

Use the basin or vanity as the visual anchor. Leave enough reveal at each side for cleaning and confirm that the mirror will not collide with a cabinet door.

Map the light and outlets

Note the position of existing lights, switches and sockets. A mirror that covers an outlet or blocks a light fitting may turn a simple replacement into electrical work.

Before ordering: record wall material, fixing points, package dimensions and the product’s bathroom suitability. Do not assume a heavy mirror can use a generic adhesive strip.

Plan the installation safely

For heavy, wired or recessed fixtures, use an appropriately qualified installer. Keep the measurement sheet with the product details so the final fit is deliberate.
