A home office cable system that is easy to reset

Cable management works when it follows the power and the work, not when it hides every wire at any cost.

Map the power path

Identify the outlet, desk position and charging points before buying clips or a box. Keep cables away from walkways, heat and places where chairs can pinch them.

Give each device a label

Use a small tag or simple note for adapters that look alike. Keep one spare charging point accessible instead of unplugging everything to identify a cable.

Bundle by destination

Group monitor, desk and charging cables separately. A short reusable tie is often easier to service than one giant bundle that must be opened whenever a device changes.

Safety check: Replace damaged cables and use power strips according to their instructions. Cable tidiness is never a reason to overload an outlet.

Leave a service loop

Allow enough slack to move a laptop or unplug equipment without pulling on connectors. A system that cannot be serviced will become messy again.
